Dear reader,

A warm and hearty welcome to the SHODAN Software wiki. In short, the purpose of this site is to document the applications that I am developing for the Android OS. I’m not expecting a huge number of them, in fact, there may only be a handful. Yet Google required me to have a home page in order to get onto the Android Application Market, hence the quick construction of this site.

Base Toucher

At the moment, I have made only one application, Base Toucher. It is a tool to help you stay in touch with friends and family. Choose the minimum frequency that you should call them, and Base Toucher will remind you if you fall short.

Android and I

To fill out this page I thought I would take the opportunity to say something about the Android OS. Way back in the days I got my hands on what I would dare to say was the first real smart phone, the SonyEricsson P800. Oh my word. What a piece of art! A whole new brave world of mobile opportunity and gadget lovin’ opened up to me. I spent hours configuring it to be my faithful servant. Then sadly SE just stopped driving their innovation. Other manufacturers caught up, but all smart phones that followed just seemed a bit … bleh. The Windows Mobile phones were the worst. Horrid little things to use. A constant source of fresh annoyance rather than a source of wonder. Then the iPhone came and revolutionized the world. Again I experienced the sense of joy when using a gadget, it was smart, sleek and beautiful with innovation oozing out of its electrodes. Sadly, there were some stuff that put me off, primarily the lack of a hardware keyboard.

And then, of course, came the Android G1. I played with it in a T-Mobile store for 5 minutes before deciding that the true spirit of the P800 had finally been reincarnated in what is now my beloved phone. It inspired me to such a degree that I wanted to again spend hours if not days to tweak and tinker with it, and what better way than to create some software for it? After all, the real power of the Android OS is the ease with which anyone can create applications.

Thank you for visiting.
